The Varilite Laser Treatment
Varilite laser treatment sessions will vary depending upon the type of skin problem and the area being treated. An individual treatment plan will by formulated by New Jersey facial plastic surgeon Eugenie Brunner, MD. Commonly, three to five laser sessions are required. These sessions are performed at monthly intervals. A treatment session typically take 30 minutes. The laser has a slight stinging sensation during the treatment which can be alleviated with cooling gel and numbing cream if necessary. After the laser session, your skin will be a little pink and have a mild sunburned sensation. The pinkness may last up to several hours. The mild sunburned sensation, if present, resolves very quickly. Brown spots respond by turning slightly darker for 3 to 7 days. After this time, the brown spots wash off and the original brown spot is either gone or significantly faded. Make-up can be applied at any time after a session. Dr. Brunner recommends to moisturize your skin liberally with a gentle moisturizer after your treatment. If necessary, use vaseline on any irritated areas. Do not use Retin A or Retinol products, glycolic or AHA products, or exfoliating scrubs.
Varilite Laser Results
Results after the first Varilite laser session are noticeable 14 days after treatment. Improvement will continue for another week or two. Your skin should have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Brown spots will fade, redness associated with rosacea will be reduced, and spider veins on the face will be less numerous. These skin conditions may not be completely resolved after one laser session. Varilite laser sessions are scheduled at 3 to 4 week intervals or as prescribed by Dr. Brunner. Microdermabrasion and Laser Facials are a great way to maintain your results. We always recommend daily sunscreen use to prevent brown spot recurrence and to protect your skin from further sun damage.
